Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is intended to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one email address, but to seem as being sent from a different, ordinarily with the idea to fraud the recipient someway. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a special record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally receive it. The record features all of the email servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if the sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the target destination. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it will be removed. If you use this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain name hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domains from a drop-down list and enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be certified to send emails from your emails. As an additional option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers manage the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This option will give you the best level of security, but it's not applicable if only your web site is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are taken care of somewhere else. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you will be able to protect your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for every domain in your account with only a few clicks. You can do this through the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with such matters, you won't have any trouble to activate the protection. The only things that you'll have to do will be to choose a domain from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be sent worldwide only if they were sent from that particular server. If your emails are taken care of by our company and not by a third-party supplier, you will also be able to take advantage of an option for emails to be sent only when the domain name includes our MX records and the latter would be the safest option.
